Xbox CEO says more exclusives may come as business gets healthier

By GFA Staff · June 10, 2026

Xbox’s exclusivity conversation is not going away, and today’s latest quote adds another wrinkle. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma says the platform may get more exclusive games as the business becomes healthier, acknowledging that Xbox is currently testing the waters with one or two exclusives rather than swinging back to the old model all at once.

That fits the strange new Xbox reality. The company wants reach across platforms, but it also needs Xbox hardware and Game Pass to feel meaningful.

Recent showcase messaging already marked a shift, with Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution framed as Xbox console exclusives. The long-term question is whether Microsoft can balance business expansion with brand identity. More exclusives would calm some fans, but only if Xbox communicates clearly and stops making every platform decision feel like a riddle.
