Rocket League Season 24 Adds Honor Duels, Black Market Trade-Ins and the Bullet Ball LTM
Rocket League begins Season 24 later today with a surprisingly chunky collection of systems layered onto the eternal premise of cars hitting an enormous football. Honor Duels allow players to challenge an opponent to a one-on-one rematch after a match, complete with the possibility for others to remain and spectate the grudge match. Black Market Trade-Ins are also being introduced, allowing three duplicate Black Market items to be exchanged for a new or painted item — useful for anyone whose digital garage has begun resembling an episode of Hoarders. MVP Goal Explosions add another way for the best performer to make sure absolutely everybody knows who the best performer was. The season also includes the Bullet Ball limited-time mode and a customisable scoreboard. Season 24 is scheduled to begin at 9am Pacific, or roughly 18:00 CEST, so European players reading this lunchtime have a few hours before kickoff. Rocket League's remarkable longevity comes partly from how carefully Psyonix changes the edges without interfering with the ridiculous perfection in the middle. Eleven years later, rocket-powered automobiles smacking a ball into a net remains an idea with suspiciously little need for improvement.
