Directive 8020 launches today on PS5, Xbox Series and PC

Directive 8020 launches today, bringing Supermassive Games back to choice-driven cinematic horror with a sci-fi survival twist. The game follows the crew of the Cassiopeia, a deep-space mission that goes horribly wrong when an alien organism capable of mimicking its prey enters the picture. That setup gives Supermassive a strong paranoia engine: players are not only trying to survive the dark corridors of a damaged ship, but also trying to work out who can still be trusted. Directive 8020 is positioned as a larger and more ambitious follow-up to the studio’s Dark Pictures-style formula, with meaningful choices, branching storylines, stealth, survival pressure and the familiar risk of losing characters permanently. For players, the big question is whether the new gameplay systems improve the formula or interrupt what Supermassive does best: tension, character decisions and horrible consequences. Either way, this is one of May’s biggest horror launches and a major release for fans of narrative survival games.
