Disney Dreamlight Valley Opens the Season of Scares With Oogie Boogie

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Season of Scares update arrives today, and Gameloft has sensibly decided that Halloween becomes significantly better once Oogie Boogie starts causing administrative problems. The six-week seasonal storyline revolves around a mysterious mirror appearing inside Scrooge McDuck's store. Passing through it reveals Oogie Boogie's lair, setting up weekly challenges and a longer questline that can ultimately unlock Oogie Boogie himself. Players can also earn Zero, Jack Skellington's spectral dog, among the seasonal rewards. The update lands across the game's supported platforms, including Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and combines new quests with mini-games and the usual assortment of decorative objects designed to destroy whatever free time remained after reorganising your virtual kitchen. Dreamlight Valley has proved particularly effective at using Disney's enormous character catalogue as a live-service engine, and The Nightmare Before Christmas material is an obvious fit for the autumn calendar. The amusing part is that Oogie Boogie may actually be less threatening than Scrooge's furniture prices. Either way, anybody whose meticulously peaceful valley was beginning to feel a little too civilised can now invite a giant gambling sack full of insects to move in. Community spirit.
