IO says 007: First Light could become a series if it performs well
007: First Light may not be a one-off mission if players show up for it. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak has said a sequel could happen if the game does well, while also stressing the studio’s quality-focused relationship with Bond IP owner Amazon. That makes sense: Bond is too large a license to build around a single release if the first game lands properly. IO is already one of the most suitable studios for the property because Hitman proved its skill at stealth, improvisation, social infiltration and stylish mission design. A Bond origin story gives the team room to build mechanics, tone and character without being locked to one film actor or era. For players, the important point is that this first game has to prove the formula. If First Light delivers flexible spy missions rather than a generic shooter, a sequel could be extremely attractive. If it underwhelms, the license may retreat again. This launch now carries franchise-level pressure.
