Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 announced for summer with four-player co-op

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is officially getting a sequel. Daybreak and Cold Iron Studios have announced Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam and Epic Games Store, with a summer 2026 release window. The biggest immediate change is co-op size. The first game was built around three-player squads, but the sequel expands the colonial marine fantasy to four players. The developers are also promising deeper customization, including more ways to mix weapons, abilities and classes. That is exactly where a sequel needs to improve. The first Fireteam Elite captured the fantasy of marines being swarmed by xenomorphs, but long-term replay depended heavily on class depth, mission variety and how satisfying the squad roles felt. A four-player format could make firefights louder, more chaotic and more social, but it also raises the pressure on balance and enemy design. Alien games succeed when the xenomorphs feel terrifying rather than like disposable bugs. If Fireteam Elite 2 can make customization deeper while keeping the pressure nasty, it could become a much stronger co-op horror shooter.
