Corebreaker launches in Steam Early Access with fast roguelike action-platforming
Corebreaker launches in Steam Early Access today, giving PC players a fast action-platformer with roguelike structure. Developed by aQuadiun and published by Astrolabe Games, the game stars Nova, a robot awakened after humanity’s extinction at the hands of machines. The goal is to fight through advanced robotic enemies, reach the mysterious core and uncover Nova’s purpose. The appeal is speed. Corebreaker is built around running, jumping, dashing, shooting and chaining melee and ranged attacks through shifting underground environments. Each run offers abilities, upgrades, weapons and resources, while some progression carries forward through permanent improvements. The developers expect Early Access to last around three to six months, with more enemies, weapons, upgrades and balance changes planned. For players who enjoy games like Dead Cells, 20XX or other fast roguelike platformers, Corebreaker could be a strong smaller pick for May. The launch price is low enough to invite experimentation, but the important question is whether the movement and combat feel tight enough to support repeated runs.
