Independent developer Octopus Panic has scheduled the early-access launch of Gravhounds for November 2, bringing its unusual cooperative action-building game to PC and Xbox Series X|S. The game is also planned to enter Xbox Game Pass on its first day of availability. Created by a seven-person studio whose members previously worked on major franchises including Halo, Battlefield and Star Wars, Gravhounds places players in control of genetically engineered dogs performing dangerous industrial assignments on hostile alien planets.

Up to four participants can cooperate to establish temporary bases, recover valuable resources and survive attacks from increasingly dangerous creatures. The central gameplay system involves the Grav Beam, a versatile tool used to manipulate objects, transport equipment, construct infrastructure and improvise weapons. Players can also build pipelines that distribute power across their operations, creating opportunities to expand into more valuable territory while increasing the amount of infrastructure requiring protection.

Movement systems include boosting, hovering and travelling rapidly along established pipelines. Completing assignments provides randomised weapons and upgrades, allowing teams to experiment with different combinations of abilities. The longer players remain on a planet, the greater the potential rewards and dangers become. Octopus Panic has emphasised that Gravhounds is launching as an unfinished production, with additional missions, environments, enemies and progression systems planned during development.

Its Steam listing indicates an expected early-access period of approximately six months, potentially longer depending on feedback. The concept combines cooperative shooting, resource extraction and defensive construction in an unusually flexible format. Most videogames ask players to save the universe. Gravhounds instead asks whether four heavily armed dogs can complete a dangerous construction contract without accidentally destroying their own equipment.
