GreedFall developer Spiders confirms shutdown as Nacon takes over DLC responsibilities

French studio Spiders has confirmed it is shutting down, marking a sad industry moment for fans of GreedFall, SteelRising and the studio’s earlier RPG work. The developer posted a farewell statement confirming that Spiders is being liquidated and asking players to redirect future queries to parent company Nacon.
The report states that DLC for GreedFall: The Dying World is still expected to continue under Nacon. For players, the immediate concern is support: patches, DLC delivery, and long-term availability of the studio’s games. Spiders built a reputation for ambitious AA-scale RPGs with choice-driven storytelling.
Its closure reduces the number of European teams willing to operate in that space. For fans, the best hope is that the people behind those games quickly find new homes and continue making RPGs elsewhere. Recognisable releases do not always protect mid-sized developers from financial pressure.
