Marvel Rivals Season 8 begins May 15 with Devil Dinosaur

Marvel Rivals is going prehistoric for Season 8. The new season begins on May 15 and adds Devil Dinosaur as a playable Vanguard, with Cyclops planned for the mid-season update. Devil Dinosaur is an inspired roster choice because he is not just another humanoid hero with different effects. His kit reportedly includes close-range snaps, slashes, tail-whips, a long-range beam and a dome-shield ability, which should make him feel bulky, strange and highly visible in team fights. In a hero shooter, readability matters, and a giant red dinosaur is about as readable as it gets. Cyclops, meanwhile, should bring a more traditional X-Men tactical presence when he arrives later. For players, Season 8 shows that NetEase is willing to keep the roster weird instead of relying only on the most obvious Marvel icons. That is good for the long-term health of the game. Marvel Rivals needs constant character variety, memorable team comps and strong seasonal identity to stand apart in the crowded live-service shooter space.
