Namco’s Cyber Commando gets its first home release through Arcade Archives

A curious piece of Namco arcade history is finally getting a home release. Cyber Commando, originally a Japan-only 1994 arcade title, arrives on April 30 through Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2.
According to VGC, the game is releasing on Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as an Arcade Archives 2 title, while Switch and PS4 get the standard Arcade Archives version. That split matters because Arcade Archives 2 adds extra modern features such as Time Attack Mode, Network Mode where supported, and VRR support.
For retro fans, this is exactly the kind of preservation release that keeps the arcade catalogue interesting. Cyber Commando is not one of the obvious household names like Pac-Man or Tekken, but that is the point. Digital retro labels are most valuable when they rescue games that many players never had realistic access to at home.
