Switch 2 YouTube workaround now throws an error code
The strange little Switch 2 YouTube workaround appears to be over. Earlier this week, players found that Super Animal Royale could be used to reach YouTube through a secondary media feed and an external browser route. It was a clumsy but functional solution, with major limitations: full-screen viewing only, no proper browsing, missing thumbnails and a resolution cap around 360p. Now the method reportedly throws error code 2800-1230, suggesting Nintendo, the developer or both decided the loophole needed to be closed. This is a small story, but it says something about Switch 2’s media-app situation. Players still want basic entertainment apps, especially YouTube, even though Nintendo has never treated its hardware as a full living-room media box. The workaround’s popularity shows the demand is there. The shutdown also makes sense from a platform-control perspective, because unofficial browser routes can create security, moderation and support problems. For now, Switch 2 owners are back to waiting for a proper official YouTube app.
