TetherGeist launch trailer spotlights combat-free precision platforming
TetherGeist has received a Nintendo Switch launch trailer, giving players a better look at its unusual platforming identity. The game follows Mae, a young Mountain Shaman whose spirit cannot fully leave her body like others in her village. During her coming-of-age pilgrimage, Mae uses her unique connection with Bao, an axolotl spirit, to master Astral Projection and cross the world. The interesting part is that TetherGeist is explicitly a platformer about growth rather than combat. Challenges are solved through timing, momentum, careful movement and new traversal mechanics introduced across chapters. Frequent checkpoints and instant retries keep the game supportive rather than punishing, which could help it reach players who like precision platforming but do not want constant frustration. The game also folds disability, spirituality, social dynamics and diverse NPC design into its world. For Switch players, this looks like a quiet but distinctive indie release: less about enemies and spectacle, more about movement, identity and the feeling of slowly mastering your own limits.
