Valorant Finally Launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in Australia and New Zealand

Riot Games has expanded Valorant's console availability to Australia and New Zealand today, bringing the competitive tactical shooter to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the region. Valorant originally made the leap from PC to consoles in selected territories in 2024, but the rollout was not universal, leaving Australian and New Zealand players waiting considerably longer for official access. That changes on September 23, with the free-to-play console version now available without requiring a separate subscription beyond the normal platform account requirements. Riot's console adaptation uses its Focus shooting mode to translate Valorant's precision gunplay to controllers without simply trying to imitate mouse input one-to-one. Cross-progression allows players to retain account content, although competitive matchmaking remains separated from PC to avoid turning every controller user's afternoon into an educational demonstration of mouse accuracy. The regional expansion may sound routine, but for a game built around large competitive communities, entering two established esports markets is meaningful. Australian Valorant fans can finally argue about instalocking duelists from the comfort of the sofa rather than merely watching everyone else do it. Progress.
