Microsoft schedules new Project Helix details for May 7 Game Dev Update

Xbox’s next-generation plans are about to get another spotlight. Microsoft has announced a Spring 2026 Game Dev Update for May 7, with Project Helix among the topics. The show is aimed mainly at developers, but players will be watching because Project Helix appears to be a major part of Xbox’s future hardware and platform strategy.
Insider Gaming reports that Chris Charla and Jason Ronald will give a closer look at Project Helix and discuss details first shared at GDC in March. The system is described as being powered by a custom AMD SoC and co-designed for the next generation of DirectX, with alpha dev kits expected to reach developers in 2027.
For gamers, the important question is what Xbox is actually becoming. Microsoft has already blurred the boundaries between console, PC and cloud, and Project Helix could push that even further. May 7 should make Xbox’s direction easier to understand.
