Bandai Namco says AI tools are being used to improve development efficiency
Bandai Namco has confirmed that it is using AI tools in game development, but the company is framing the technology as an efficiency tool rather than a replacement for creative staff. In an investor Q&A, Bandai Namco said AI is currently used primarily for tasks such as searching historical data and libraries, allowing creators to focus more energy on creative activities. The company did not say that generative AI is being used directly to create finished game assets. That distinction matters because AI remains one of the most sensitive topics in game development. Players and developers are often open to tools that remove repetitive work, improve searching, speed up internal processes or help teams navigate large archives. The backlash usually comes when AI appears to replace artists, writers, voice actors or art direction. Bandai Namco’s wording is therefore careful. It wants the benefits of efficiency without triggering the perception that games are being generated by machine. As always, trust will depend on transparency and how the tools are actually used.
