Path of Exile 2 aims to leave Early Access after ExileCon in November
Path of Exile 2 now has a clearer road out of Early Access. Game director Jonathan Rogers says the full release should arrive “a little bit after” ExileCon, which runs November 7-8. Before that, patch 0.5.0 will be the final major Early Access update, with Return of the Ancients launching on May 29 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. That update is not small. It overhauls the endgame, adds new quests to guide players toward major bosses, introduces two Ascendancies, brings more than 40 new Uniques and adds the Runes of Aldur league with new crafting and skill options. For players, the good news is that Grinding Gear Games sounds focused on finishing the core game instead of letting Early Access stretch indefinitely. The caveat is that 1.0 will still not include every originally discussed class, and swords may also miss the full release. Even so, a post-ExileCon target gives the community a stronger expectation for when Path of Exile 2 becomes the ongoing league platform it was meant to be.
