Shift Up will self-publish the next Stellar Blade and wants broader day-one reach

Stellar Blade’s sequel is taking a very different publishing path. Shift Up says the next Stellar Blade title is progressing smoothly and that the studio will publish it itself rather than relying on Sony Interactive Entertainment. The first Stellar Blade launched as a PS5 exclusive in 2024 before later coming to PC, but Shift Up now says it wants to reach a broad global audience from day one. The company has not announced exact platforms, but the wording strongly suggests it is thinking beyond a single-console-first approach. Shift Up is also actively exploring further platform expansion for the original Stellar Blade, which keeps speculation alive around Switch 2 or Xbox versions. For players, this is interesting because Stellar Blade has already become an important action IP with a dedicated fanbase. Self-publishing gives Shift Up more control over marketing, platform strategy and long-term franchise identity, but it also puts more responsibility on the studio. The next game will need to prove that Stellar Blade is not just a stylish one-off, but a series with global staying power.
