Former Gearbox Quebec leadership forms Studio Ricochet

A new independent studio has entered the scene. Studio Ricochet has been established in Quebec by former leaders from Gearbox Studio Quebec, including Sebastien Caisse and Pierre-Andre Dery, with former Borderlands creative director Maxime Babin and former Gearbox creative development director Yanick Piche also involved. The studio is developing an original premium co-op action-adventure game for console and PC. This is an interesting move because the team has big-studio experience but is deliberately starting lean. Co-founder Pierre-Andre Dery said the goal is to move faster, stay focused and take creative risks after years inside large organizations. For players, the project is still early, but the setup is promising. Co-op action-adventure is a crowded space, yet a team with Borderlands, Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed experience could bring production discipline to a smaller original project. The key will be identity. Studio Ricochet needs to show not only that it can build at scale, but that it has a world and gameplay hook players can remember.
