A Passing in the Night announced as a psychological horror adventure

PLAYISM and Japanese creator .iris have announced A Passing in the Night, a 3D psychological horror adventure coming to PC via Steam in 2026. The premise is strange and emotionally sharp: Kai wakes from a dream, wanders through a surreal city at night and encounters a demon who offers him freedom from pain in exchange for his most precious memory. From there, the game becomes a question about whether escaping suffering is worth sacrificing the memories that make life meaningful. That is a stronger hook than “walk through a scary town and avoid monsters.” Psychological horror works best when the threat is internal as much as external, and A Passing in the Night seems to understand that. The one-hour decision structure could create a tight narrative frame, while the strange city and apparitions give the developer room for unsettling visual design. For horror fans, this looks like one of the more interesting PLAYISM Game Show reveals because it is not chasing obvious jump-scare trends. It is aiming for discomfort, memory and regret, which can be far more effective if handled well.
