Star Fox Switch 2 amiibo support unlocks backgrounds and emblems

Star Fox on Switch 2 is leaning into Nintendo’s wider ecosystem with confirmed amiibo support. According to details from Nintendo’s Japanese site, scanning compatible Star Fox-related amiibo on a Joy-Con 2 or Switch 2 Pro Controller analog stick will unlock exclusive backgrounds and emblems. The figures highlighted so far include Fox, Falco and Wolf from the Super Smash Bros. amiibo line. This is not the kind of locked gameplay content that usually triggers heavy backlash, but more of a cosmetic bonus for long-time collectors who still have those figures on a shelf somewhere. The game will also include GameChat character avatars, letting players appear as Fox McCloud and other crew members while chatting with friends. AR filters can add Star Fox-style ears or a Falco-like beak that moves as the player talks. It is a small feature story, but it shows Nintendo treating Star Fox as more than a simple remake. Between online battles, GameShare, Mouse Mode, GameChat effects and amiibo support, this Switch 2 version is clearly being built as a modern platform showcase around a classic N64 structure.
