Final Fantasy XIV on Switch 2 Sounds More Playable Than MMO Skeptics Expected

Naoki Yoshida has addressed one of the biggest questions around Final Fantasy XIV on Switch 2: will an MMO this large actually run properly on Nintendo’s hybrid hardware? According to Yoshida, the Switch 2 version should run around 30fps in busy towns and perform better during actual content, where the load is apparently less chaotic than packed social hubs.
For gamers, that is reassuring because FFXIV is not just a game you “finish.” It is an ongoing world full of dungeons, crafting, social spaces, raids, fashion, housing, and daily habits. A weak port could have turned the Switch 2 version into a novelty. A stable one could make the console a surprisingly good second home for players who want to craft, gather, level side jobs, or run casual content away from the desk. The real impact is lifestyle flexibility. Serious raiders may still prefer PC, keyboard, mouse, and higher frame rates, but Switch 2 could make FFXIV feel more like a portable routine than a fixed appointment.
