Necro Pop brings a NeoGeo-designed action platformer to Nintendo Switch
Necro Pop is coming to Nintendo Switch, and the hook is a good one for retro fans: it was originally designed for NeoGeo. Developed by Nalua Studio, the game is an action platformer built around dungeon exploration, monster fighting, upgrades and rescuing lost souls from The Gloam. Players will travel through five zones, fight bosses, uncover secrets and use new abilities to push deeper into the world. The NeoGeo angle immediately gives the project a different flavor because players will expect arcade clarity, chunky action and a structure that feels rooted in older hardware sensibilities rather than modern bloat. At the same time, bringing it to Switch gives the game access to a platform where retro-inspired indies often perform well. The challenge is balance. A game designed with old-school DNA can feel satisfyingly direct, but it still needs modern responsiveness and fair checkpoints to avoid frustration. If Necro Pop captures the arcade energy without becoming stiff, it could become a nice oddity for Switch players who like newly made retro games.
