Subnautica 2 passes two million Early Access sales in twelve hours

Subnautica 2 is already one of the biggest Early Access launches of 2026. Unknown Worlds has announced that the underwater survival sequel passed two million sales within twelve hours, after reaching one million in its first hour. The launch also produced huge player numbers, with Gematsu reporting more than 650,000 concurrent players across Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox, including more than 467,000 on Steam alone. That is a massive start for a game that is not yet finished. The sequel keeps the core loop of scanning, crafting, underwater exploration, base-building and terrifying alien ocean discovery, but adds online co-op for up to four players. That change seems to have widened the audience without killing the series’ survival identity. For players, the big question now is support. Early Access survival games can explode quickly, but the real success comes from updates, trust, new biomes, new creatures and a roadmap that keeps the ocean worth returning to.
