Tumblepop: Memories announced for Switch with arcade and Game Boy versions included
Tumblepop is getting a modern return with Tumblepop: Memories for Nintendo Switch. Announced by PlayAsia, the package is a reimagining of Data East’s 1991 arcade action-platformer and is due in 2026. The release includes the new Tumblepop: Memories game, two-player co-op, Survival Mode, Boss Rush, Tum-Tum Mode, online leaderboards, a gallery and options. It also includes the original 1991 arcade version and the 1992 Game Boy version, which makes it much more interesting as a preservation package. For retro fans, that combination is ideal: a modern version for new players and the original games for historical context. Tumblepop’s core idea is simple and arcade-friendly: suck up enemies with a vacuum-like device, throw them back and clear stages. The challenge for the new version is keeping that quick, readable arcade rhythm while adding enough modern structure to justify a comeback. If the co-op and extra modes are strong, Tumblepop: Memories could become a fun Switch nostalgia release rather than just another retro name dragged out of storage.
