Namco Legendary Mountains announced for Switch 2, Switch and PC
BeXide has announced Namco Legendary Mountains for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC, with a summer launch planned. The game looks like a nostalgic Namco spin on the 2048 and Suika Game formula: players toss voxel capsules into a 3D field, merge matching characters into larger forms and chase high scores. The twist is that the entire game is built around Namco’s arcade history. Dedicated stages and music are planned for Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Xevious, Mappy and The Tower of Druaga, while more than 100 unique voxels can be unlocked and displayed in a collection room. That is a smart use of legacy IP. Instead of simply putting Pac-Man on another T-shirt, Bandai Namco is turning its old arcade cast into a light puzzle-collection system that could appeal to both retro fans and score-chasers. The biggest question is whether the physics and scoring loop are satisfying enough to become addictive. If the merging feels good and the unlocks land well, Namco Legendary Mountains could become a charming eShop pick this summer.
