Panthalassa launches on Steam with underwater point-and-click sci-fi

Panthalassa launches today on Steam, and it has one of the more atmospheric indie hooks of the day. Developed and published by Meia Calça, the game is a story-rich point-and-click puzzle adventure set in an alien underwater world. Players take the role of Magellan, or MAG, an autonomous exploratory submarine that suffers a catastrophic malfunction and wakes up in a highly advanced body it does not recognize. That immediately gives the game a strong identity: underwater exploration, transhumanism, alien technology and the strange discomfort of being a machine with new emotions. Panthalassa is inspired by 1990s and early-2000s point-and-click adventures, but the interface-heavy machine perspective could help it feel different from a standard retro throwback. The Steam page lists awards and festival selections, including IndieX and AdventureX visibility, which suggests it has already earned some indie-scene attention. For players who like puzzles, environmental discovery and weird sci-fi, this is the May 17 Steam release to inspect first.
