Subnautica 2 remains one of Steam’s biggest games days after Early Access launch

Subnautica 2 is not only a launch-day sales story. Steam’s own public player stats show the underwater survival sequel still sitting near the top of the platform days after Early Access began. On May 17, Steam listed Subnautica 2 with more than 286,000 current players and a daily peak above 372,000, putting it among the biggest games on the platform alongside Counter-Strike 2, PUBG, Dota 2 and Apex Legends. That is a strong sign for Unknown Worlds because survival games depend heavily on continued community momentum. A big first hour can be driven by hype, but a big third or fourth day suggests players are actually staying in the ocean, building bases, exploring co-op and talking about discoveries. The real test remains long-term support, especially because this is Early Access rather than a finished 1.0 release. For now, though, Subnautica 2 is behaving like a genuine phenomenon, not just a front-loaded launch spike.
