Yoshi and the Mysterious Book reviews arrive before launch
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is almost here, and the review conversation has begun two days before launch. Nintendo Everything's roundup lists early verdicts including IGN at 6 out of 10, GameSpot at 7 out of 10, Game Informer at 7.75 out of 10, Shacknews at 8 out of 10, GamesRadar at 4 out of 5 and Eurogamer at 4 out of 5.
Nintendo has also released the game's opening sequence, showing how the talking encyclopedia Mr. E drops into the Yoshis' world and how Bowser Jr. appears to set events in motion. This is the first main Yoshi platformer since Yoshi's Crafted World in 2019, and the new game's living-book structure lets Yoshi interact with strange creatures, study their behaviors and use discoveries to solve puzzles.
The early reviews suggest a charming but somewhat divisive Switch 2 exclusive rather than a universal critical smash. For players, it sounds like the appeal will depend heavily on how much they enjoy gentle discovery, creature observation and Yoshi's softer puzzle-platforming style.
